Wow! October went by so quickly.
We kicked off the Halloween festivities early this year with a fun office Trick or Treat on October 29th, where community members, assistants, and friends dressed up in creative costumes, ate lots of candy, and tried to figure out who was inside the Bigfoot/Chewbacca costume. It was a fun way to welcome the season and bring some positive energy into the Welcome Center.
Next came our Community Halloween Night on November 5th, where core members, staff, families, and friends came together to showcase their costumes down the red carpet, and play some games. We stocked up on our Tums and Rolaids since the annual chili cook came after the red carpet walk. The challenge is on for the best tasting chili in Tacoma!
Mid-month, on November 20th, we’ll have the wreath workshop on the farm and then host an Estate Planning Workshop designed to help families and friends navigate the confusing documents we all put off. We are lucky enough to have a professional elder law lawyer, Liz Ann Johnson, from Puget Sound Estate Law, PLLC to advise us all on this matter. This workshop is part of our ongoing effort to support the long-term well-being of our staff, core members, and family members.
We will close the month with one of our best holiday traditions: the Community Thanksgiving celebration on November 22. Together, we will share our favorite dishes from years of Thanksgiving dinners in the form of the L’Arche Tahoma Hope community potluck. This is a great time to reflect on loved ones from the past, our friends and family of today, and the excitement of making new connections in the future and we’d love to have you join us.
Be sure you also check out our website calendar for several other events this month. The holidays have started and there is a lot happening.
Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at L’Arche Tahoma Hope!
